The 80's House
So alot has been happening have decided to setup a house, have slowly been getting the stuff I need to deck a house from the 80’s out. Been hitting the second hand stores and nabbing old tech from mates and family.
So instead of having to deal with the temptation of house mates watching, using and teasing me with post 80’s goodies I will be in a 80’s bubble safe from the trappings of the modern world.
And will be having 80’sthemed parties every weekend so my mates can also join in and have fun. So watch this space as time draws nigh for the 80’s experiment take two blasts off.
Todays song is…
Nik Kershaw – Wouldn’t it be good, This song has been mine own theme tune since I was 13 years old…. maybe I need to get a new one but love Nik Kershaw so much… Hey it was this or the riddle.
As simple and as complex as it is….
Sorry about the delayed post people. But has been a rollercoaster last few days. And sadly I fell off the 80’s wagon…. So have to start from scratch. But I did get some goodies from the era that I will be adding to reviews in the upcoming weeks. But as I wait for the goodies to arrive I must postpone and this will be a blog of the normal variety. Well me normal. So yeah
But on a personal note, I took a chance on Sunday at the bequest of someone and I ended up getting really hurt again 2 days later. I’m not going to go into details here as its pretty personal stuff. But I have been on a journey as some of you know to find myself, and yesterday I had alot of the work in myself destroyed. And I walked away from someone I care alot for.
But out of it I realised that alot of you out there really care for me and it’s time I start living up to the expectations of my family as you are my family. You have been with me through my divorce, separation, crazy times, drunken calls and even when I most certainly did not act my age. And through it all you have stood by unbiased loving and rock solid.
So thank you. And now on with the show. and as usual to email me feel free at logan.trowsdale@gmail.com…
Sweded the Site
So I have had the guys update the look and feel of the site and I hope it looks a little better than it was looking. Also am trying out the poll system and I have had a new idea. I am gonna start swedeing some of the classic 80’s films for more information on swedeing check out “Be kind rewind”
The basic premise is I take a classic 80’s movie remake it crappily and post on the blog, youtube etc. So will add a poll to choose but if you feel passionate about a particular movie comment on this post and I will consider them all.
Are you keeping up with the commodore?
Are you keeping up with the commodore?
What a way to start the day we have 2 small house guests Ash’s Niece’s and I was woken to the sounds of Wolverine and The X-Men cartoon being watched, knowing marvel is a weakness I pulled the covers over my head and slept some more.
Finally getting the nerves to get up I stumbled out into the kitchen to make up a fresh jug of “Tang” and settle on the couch to introduce the girls to Explorers an 80’s movie I have not actually seen since the 80’s.
It brought back alot of memories of my childhood and the scene of Ethan Hawke on the roof watching the stars made me realise how much I used to love star gazing. I can remember in 1986 when halley’s comet was in orbit spending all night out on the roof watching the skies learning the names of the stars which sadly in adult life I have forgotten.
And the science fiction genre of the 80’s was so awesome, watching the kids on a so so old computer talk vector graphics gave me an idea. So as I’m writing this I am getting the commodore emulator going, yes a commodore 64. I gotta get my 80’s style game on and what better way. So hopefully I will get some goonies or ghostbusters action later on.
But for now I challenge you to go out and look at the stars tonight, and remember back to a time when the future was beyond 2000 and the world was so much bigger than it seems now. As for me? I’m spending the night on the trampoline watching the skies like I used too.
A beginning and an Ending.
Buckle up as I head back in Time to relive the 80’s
“What is there that confers the noblest delight? What is that which swells a man’s breast with pride above that which any other experience can bring to him? Discovery! To know that you are walking where none others have walked; that you are beholding what human eye has not seen before; that you are breathing a virgin atmosphere. To give birth to an idea, to discover a great thought — an intellectual nugget, right under the dust of a field that many a brain-plough had gone over before. To find a new planet, to invent a new hinge, to find a way to make the lightning carry your messages. To be the first — that is the idea.
- Mark Twain, Innocents Abroad (1869)
And with that quote I begin a new idea. Not the first to have such an idea but one nonetheless that shall carry me forward in this age of information.
I recently read a story about the end of the Information age and what would happen and it made me realise that as deep as we are in this age of technological wonders, What would happen if we gave it all up. How many times a day to we log into face book and check out what is happening with the our circle of digital peers. How many times have I spent countless hours online waiting for someone to “interact” with.
So I have a new plan. A new experiment. I shall purge myself of this digital age and step back into the past. Donning a Ghostbusters shirt I shall endeavour to survive with out email, texting, and the all encompassing behemoth that is social networking. I shall give myself half an hour a day to update this site. And apart from that shall not be on-line for hopefully 2 months.
How shall I survive in the Inns of the real world instead of the Inns in Azeroth who knows? So subscribe, stay tuned and wait for reports as I go back to the 80’s.
